Quarter Horse Congress

Yee Haw It's that time of year again here in Columbus, Ohio. It's time for Cutting Derby, Novice Cutting, Calf Roping, Team Roping, Green Working Hunter, Jumping, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Barrel Racing,and much more.

Congress also means lots of bling, great shopping, funnel cakes, fried pickles, puppy ally, tired feet, losing your car in the parking lot, and a chance to hang with other horse people. It doesn't get any better than that.

Aroma Therapy

The part of the human brain that recognizes smell is also very close to the part that regulates emotion. It's no wonder that when I want to be relaxed and happy I head to the barn. Only horse lovers can relate to this, but even the sweet smell of manure is soothing. There are many other aroma "triggers" for positive feelings like the smell of fresh hay, the leather tack iin my trailer. Even my truck cab has a horse aroma from our clothes after a ride.

The natural horse care products that I use with their essential oils are soothing. I hope those smells are soothing for the horses as well. Other horse owners know what I mean when I talk about sneaking a whiff at the horses neck. Is it any wonder that I smile just writing about my aroma therapy.
